Trying to preserve great popularity of the model 242 Classic, a boat that’s been in the line for over 15 years, Bayliner launched improved and modernised Discovery 246 EC. The Discovery 246 is an all-season classic cruiser - an exclusive Bayliner design for serious cruising in a trailerable package with large amounts of natural light in the cabin - large side and forward cabin windows add incredible visibility and light to the interior area. Cabin area is spacious with great stand-up headroom, and has three separate sleeping areas. Quarter berth provides a large area for sleeping or storage.
The cockpit is fitted with beverage holders, courtesy lights, engine access hatch with gas-assist, hardtop with a drop curtain for extra cockpit protection from all the elements, helm slider seating and 4 guest seats, overhead lights, two stereo speakers, table with designated storage, transom door and transom shower. Fiberglass cockpit liner make for easy cleanup after a day of fishing or beach combing. Visibility from the raised helm console is excellent, and the instrument panel is very well arranged.
The standard engine is 250-hp 5.7L MerCruiser and stern drive Bravo III. Equipped with an optional 300-hp MerCruiser 350 MAG MPI engine and Bravo III sterndrive that, according to the manufacturer, would burn 13.2 gph at a cruising speed of 27.6 knots for a range of 152 nautical miles.
