Aerodynamic and somewhat reminiscent 44 Dolphin’s design is subordinated to the full cruising pleasure and supreme driving experience. She has been built on a deep-V hull variable geometry with spray rails, which points to speeding aspirations as well as comfortable sailing. Topsides are slightly rounded for obtaining even better robustness of already firm and compact structure. However, Tornado is not only a speeder intended for rush, but also multi-purpose runabout with numerous amenities of comfort offered by lobster concept: her bow is raised and harmoniously linked to the Dolphin’s unmistakable reverse stern; her cockpit is wide, her shape is rounded; wood covers every part of the boat as well as the handrails; the ceramic tiles in the bathroom are in the 1950s retro style with cross-handle taps and fittings; her cabins feature the typical English style inlay work that has been so highly praised in previous models, and the color of her wood blends in harmoniously with the light-colored upholstery. The ample space in the cockpit and dinette, furnished with comfortable angular couches, wooden tables and furniture, a stereo system and plasma TV, welcome guests in a sea of light and sky, just like the spacious sundeck on the bow, which can accommodate up to four people stretched out comfortably.
Unusual spaces are also to be found below deck. The stairs lead directly down into the American-style fitted galley with the classic old-style refrigerator in full view, and the wide and elegant window opening out over the countertop, allowing the beauty of the sea to accompany the time spent in the galley. The shipowner’s cabin whith its own private bathroom, is also located in the center of the boat, which enhances the space destined to the shipowner, as, compared to a normal 44-footer, it enjoys nearly fifty centimeters more width, created by the special shape of the hull. The shipowner’s cabin is also illuminated by a large window on the hull that allows for an exciting view of the sea, for those relaxing and intimate moments. For guests the 44’Dolphin has a cabin at the bow with a queen-sized bed and a single bed. The 44’Dolphin also has a crew cabin with private bathroom, located below the cockpit, which can also be fitted out as a laundry room. Under the cockpit is stow an inflated tender, ready for use, which does not need to be kept outside. Reintroduced successfully on the 44-feet model is the 51’Dolphin tender’s electrical movement, which is just as easy to use. Mochi Craft’s penchant for the sea can also be seen in the bridge that opens to the stern, elongating the cockpit to the water’s surface, thus providing a private “little beach”.
Standard twin 500 hp Volvo Penta D9 6L will cruise 44’Dolphin at 27 knots (with range of 275 nm) and reach 30 knots wide open. The optional 2x575 hp Volvo Penta D9 6L will cruise 29 knots (with range of 260 nm) and reach 33 knots top. The 44´Dolphin is also suitable for shallow depths, with only 4 feet of draft.
