The successful Storebro and Nimbus Commander-range will be this year expanded with a new boat model. The new Nimbus 340 Commander will, just like her bigger sisters, have all the characteristics of a Commander-range boat. We are talking about sterling touring boats with a roomy pilot house and an easily accessible yet sheltered flybridge. This is as small as can build a boat with a fully functional flybridge, boats smaller than this lack the necessary stability.
Former Nimbus designer Rolf Eliasson has once more been contracted by the company, after having been fully occupied with the Swedish Sea Rescue Society and his own long-distance sailing project. He has given the Nimbus 340 Commander the same distinctive lines that characterise her elegant yet robust sister-boats in this class. A large chart table in a top class pilot house, with plenty of room for several passengers. A comfortable and spacious saloon, with a well-equipped galley and access to the sheltered aft deck through sliding glass panels. On top is the flybridge, easily reached both from the aft deck and from inside by cleverly designed stairs. From the pilot house the fore deck is easily accessible by way of a sliding glass door opening on to the side deck. The fore cabin offers not only a spacious compartment, but also its own master head and shower directly accessible from the cabin. Those sleeping in the amidship berths below the saloon will also be able to shut a door on their privacy. Below the aft deck, customers have a choice between the economically attractive single engine option, and the twin engines of the 340’s larger sisters. The hull, with its three prop tunnels for straight prop shafts, is built to accommodate either option. The boat is powered by Volvo Penta’s new D-4 or D-6 engine series. A low noise levels is achieved with the solution where the engine ”floats” on its bed, so that sound won’t travel through the hull. Also, it´s added an extra hood to reduce noise levels to a minimum. The new Nimbus 340 Commander will be launched at this year’s Open House in Langedrag at the end of August. Production follows the ISO 9002 quality system regulations, with type approval by DNV (Det Norske Veritas).
