The Summerland 40 is the latest boat in Fountaine Pajot’s Trawler range - a motor catamaran which has been designed for long-distance cruising and to meet new expectations in terms of comfort and life aboard. Aboard on the Summerland 40 there are uncluttered areas and the sheltered cockpit, for dining or enjoying the cruise, with direct access to the flybridge via safe steps.
Once on the flybridge, a large sunbathing area allows the crew to enjoy the anchorages, and wide seats invite conversations with the helmsman. The catamaran’s conviviality is reinforced by the positioning of the cockpit/saloon on the same level; access to the galley is easy when eating outside. Entering the saloon, we find the same light and comfort as on the big boats in the range, with well-separated areas: a dining area which can seat 6 to 8 people, a fully-equipped galley where it is easy to work.
To starboard, the Summerland 40 reserves a large owner’s cabin, equipped with a transverse berth with a view over the sea, a lot of stowage space, a dressing table and an independent ‘bathroom’. To port, two nice guest cabins, with double or single berths, heads and stowage provided for some good cruising…
With a thousand miles of range, the Summerland 40 is easily capable of serious bluewater passages. Her reliable twin 160-hp Volvo D3 diesels burn only 2x5.3 ltr/h at eco 7.5-knot cruise speed. Fast cruise speed is 13.5 kn with consumption of 2x19 ltr/h and 500 nm range. Top speed is about 19 knots (burning about 2x33 ltr/h) with a range of 400 miles.
