Biotard is a modern, ecological and water-conserving product, that functions as an antifouler and repellant to marine organism. This thixotropic emulsion is based on a mixture of saturated hydrocarbons. The white transparent product creates a sealed protective coating on the underwater hull of the boat. It is practically insoluble in water, odorless and non-toxic to marine life and almost completely biodegradable. In contrast to conventional antifouling products, Biotard contains no toxic substances that could pollute water and environment. There are no allergic reactions if it comes in contact with skin. Nevertheless, normal safety precautions should be taken. Do not swallow!
The purpose of Biotard is to prevent growth of marine life such as algae on the underwater hull of the vessel, without the use of toxic substances. Mussels and barnacles will not or hardly find a hold on the Biotard protective coating as well. The underwater hull keeps a smooth, clean surface. A light accumulation of marine growth can easily be wiped off any time.
Caution: Biotard does not substitute the normal corrosion-prevention and osmosis- prevention paints on the underwater hull of the vessel.
Biotard Spray-on Antifouling provides reliable protection for up to two seasons. This protective coating will gradually decrease over a longer period of time. The durability of protection depends on the thickness of the coating layer and on the friction of the ship travelling in the water. The Biotard coating provides longer protection at speeds under 10-12 knots, whereas fast motor boats will require a more frequent re-spraying, e.g. annually.
When doing maintenance on the outer hull of the vessel or when renewing corrosion protecting paints, the Biotard coating must be removed completely from the surface. This can easily be done using a hot water or steam jet, to which an ordinary alkaline cleaning agent is added. Such work must comply with the normal water-pollution precautions. (biotard.com)

Boat owners are well aware of the importance of antiofouling. And the fact that they are efective because of toxic substances which they contain. Biotard is trying to solve the problem on different way, without toxic elements. Advertising promises longer durability compared to other products. Therefore the product from dreams, non toxic and more durable. Higher price seems to be only problem.
Delighted with promises we happily decided to use it as antifouling. After only two months in sea water the bottom of boat looked catastrophically. The speed of boat considerably decreased. Enough that we decided to repeat antifouling with different product.
I shall not comment. Attached pictures say enough. The work has been done in marina Sukosan, Croatia. Sailing yacht with Biotard antifouling sailed two months in Croatian waters in northern and central Adriatic, between Kvarner and island Zirje.
