Sailing history was made again last week. The sailboat Macquarie Innovation hit a speed of over 50 knots on the speed sailing course in Australia, and became the first sailboat in the world to complete an official 500 meter run in excess of 50 knots.
The sailboat Macquarie Innovation actually reached a maximum sailing speed of 54.23 knots!
The Macquarie Speed Sailing Team is now waiting for ratification for their speed sailing record.
