Most of the recent research has been dedicated to the creation of new models of vertical type electric anchor windlasses. Design concentrated on the choice of materials and working methods to obtain competitive products that were suitable for the most demanding requirements of the marine sector.
Dylan certainly has some particular construction features, in fact the base in AISI 316 stainless steel comes with internal structure in hard anodized aluminium alloy which makes the windlass much lighter. Both materials offer high resistance to knocks and corrosion in the marine environment and give robustness and grit to the product. The inspection cover also in AISI 316 stainless steel has been designed with a system to prevent accidental opening.
The Aleph anchor windlass is in aluminium anodised in hard oxide, including the gypsy cover and the drum. This particular method of anodising provides oxidation of a thickness up to 50 micron, unlike common methods which normal do not exceed 20 micron. The thickness of the oxidisation penetrates half into the material while the rest is deposited on the surface. The greater thickness thus gives a more resistant and long lasting surface.
Dylan and Aleph are entirely made in Italy and most of their components manufactured and controlled in C.a.t.t., the technological heart of Quick company. High product quality and the guarantee of rapid manufacturing times were the most important objectives attained.
