Autonautic Instrumental, has just launched its CMI compass, which introduces electronics software and readily available data to develop a great deal more than just a new product. Autonautic have taken existing navigation processes and automated them to an extent that improves both safety and reliability, saves operating costs and is incredibly user friendly. The CMI compass, an innovative concept in navigation equipment uses a computing system, the information from the magnetic compass, derived electronically, and published magnetic data to obtain the deviation table for the master compass on a ship in real time. From this the True course can be computed and the compass adjustment process, accuracy and preparation time improved.
