Digital Yacht has launched a new Apple iPhone and iPad App called iOnBoard. It is designed for use with any of their wireless navigation products including their WLN10 NMEA to wireless server, BOATraNET and iAIS system.
All these devices create a local WiFi hotspot onboard your boat and NMEA data from other onboard systems (for instance GPS, instruments, plotters etc) is then wirelessly sent to the iPad or iPhone. iOnBoard allows data such as GPS, instrument and helmsmen’s steering information to be wirelessly relayed and it’s nicely presented in graphical form on the mobile device. It acts as a wireless repeater for use with your instrument or GPS system and offers a big saving over and above buying a dedicated display from a manufacturer.
iOnBoard is available as a download through the Apple App Store. It costs just $6.99 and is available now. Find Digital Yacht America at the NMEA International Marine Electronics Conference & Expo in Fort Myers, Florida from Wednesday September 28 – Saturday October 1 or at Annapolis (Sail) in Tent A, Booth 21 from Thursday 6 October – Monday 10 October and Annapolis (Power) also in Tent A, Booth 21 from Thursday 13 October – Sunday 16 October.
