Garmin unveils the next generation of large-format Multifunction Display Units – the GPSMAP 6000 and GPSMAP 7000 series. These network chartplotters feature dual processors, enabling Garmin G Motion technology – a breakthrough in speed, smoothness and clarity, delivering ultra-fast and super-smooth map panning, zooming and seamless graphical updates.
The GPSMAP 7015 offers a huge 15-inch diagonal XGA (1024 x 768 pixel) sunlight readable touchscreen display and comes preloaded with an enhanced worldwide satellite basemap. This unit also has a PC monitor input, so you can use it for display of digital presentations, internet browsers, or other computer applications. In addition, these units also offer four composite video inputs for multimedia use.
Mariners can also opt for the same XGA resolution in a 12-inch diagonal screen configuration and worldwide basemap, with the GPSMAP 7012. All models are compatible with an optional wireless remote and a wireless mouse for additional flexibility.
The GPSMAP 6012 and GPSMAP 6008 feature a traditional soft-key interface with a 12-inch diagonal XGA (1024 x 768 pixel) or 8-inch VGA (640 x 480) sunlight readable display. All models in the GPSMAP 6000 series are compatible with an optional wireless remote and come preloaded with a worldwide satellite basemap.
The GPSMAP 6000 and 7000 series offer expanded “plug-and-play” options with NMEA 2000, NMEA 0183 and Garmin Marine Networks. This allows control of a whole array of sensors and instruments from any compatible plotter on your boat including, autopilot, VHF radios, radar, sonar, AIS traffic monitoring and more.
For maximum expandability, these new units have three built-in network ports, four NMEA 0183 inputs, two NMEA 0183 outputs, one NMEA 2000 port, two video inputs, and one PC monitor video output.
For superior situational awareness, mariners can also load the new GPSMAP 6000 and 7000 units with an optional BlueChart g2 Vision SD card to navigate with a clear moving-map representation of the boat’s position.
For night navigation, the new GPSMAP 6000 and 7000 series feature an unmatched low-level backlight display that dims to 0.5 nits and a backlit keypad for easy data input.
The GPSMAP 6000 and GPSMAP 7000 family of Chartplotter/Display units will be available in February 2010.
