Skywatch Anemometer
Technical details
Producer: JDC Electronic SA (CH)

Precision-made in Switzerland by JDC Instruments, the SKYWATCH Eole Wind Speed Meter is a great companion for sailors, windsurfers, glider pilots, and many other sportsmen and sportswomen who enjoy outdoor activities and want or need to know the wind speed. Larger than the more basic Skywatch Fun model but still pocket-sized, the SKYWATCH Eole gives you a choice of 3 wind speed measurement modes: current wind speed, average wind speed for the last 30 seconds, and maximum wind speed.
Current wind speed is calculated every second, and an average is calculated every 4 seconds. Both average and maximum wind speed are reset every time the meter is turned on. You can select km/h, mph, knots, m/s, or fps as the digital (numeric) wind speed readout on the large LCD panel. In addition to the digital readout, the LCD panel also displays a Beaufort scale bar graph whose reading corresponds to the digital readout.
The SKYWATCH Eole Wind Speed Meter is not only compact and lightweight but also tough and weatherproof (but not submersible). A protective polyethylene foam surface ensures comfortable, easy handling. On the bottom of the instrument is a threaded fitting for use on a tripod or monopod. A special feature of this anemometer is its omnidirectional (JDC Instruments calls them "3D") impeller cups that eliminate the need to point the meter directly into the wind. A sturdy removable cap protects the impeller when the meter is not being used.
Please note that this anemometer is sensitive to magnetic fields. It works by picking up magnetic impulses transmitted by the spinning impeller blades, processing them into logic pulses, and supplying them in binary form to the LCD panel. This means that the instrument may display numeric values when in a magnetic field (from a computer, electric appliance, etc.). However, this will not affect operation under normal circumstances.
