Why settle for just a hand-held microphone when you can have a CMP30 remote handset that gives you complete access to all the advanced features of your fixed Standard Horizon VHF radio from any secondary location onboard your boat.
The CMP30 is an upgraded version of the popular CMP25 handset, and whilst still remarkably easy to use, has been ergonomically updated to be smaller and thinner than its predecessor. The casing is totally waterproof to JIS-7 and IPX7 standards (1 metre submersion for 30 minutes) so the remote station can be placed in the most exposed areas.
The CMP30 operates all of the functions of the main VHF remotely, and thanks to a generous 6.9m (23ft) cable it not only saves having to buy a separate VHF for key locations such as the flybridge, nav station or wheelhouse, it also provides the extra safety feature of another DSC distress button, right where it’s needed.
The large dot matrix LCD screen clearly displays the VHF channel number, programmable scan, priority scan, and dual watch status. When the main VHF is connected to a GPS set, the CMP30 can also display the relevant position information. The screen is backlit in red to preserve night vision.
There are 12 carefully located keys, 3 of which are user-programmable, for the main functions such as channel changing, PTT (press to talk), volume, dual watch and immediate access to Channel 16. The all-important DSC distress button is obvious under a spring loaded clip on the rear of the unit, so you don’t need to go below to the main VHF set to send a distress alert.
Each CMP30 is supplied with a pair of speaker wires in the rear of the routing cable, so you won’t have to run extra wires for an external speaker. The unit also acts as a useful intercom between the second station and the fixed set, allowing a helmsman on the flybridge, for example, to communicate with the crew down below, or request a Gin & Tonic!
The CMP30 is fully compatible with all the Standard Horizon fixed VHF DSC sets, including the latest GX1500E and the GX3000E, and gives full access to the wide range of functions. These include all of the advanced features packed into these sets, such as DSC polling and user-programmable scanning. Both the aforementioned models also have an ATIS mode for use on European inland waterways, now a legal requirement for all motorised vessels that wish to navigate these waters. In addition, the GX3000E has connections for not just one, but two separate CMP30 handsets.
Slim, well designed and easy to use, the CMP30 remote handset literally doubles the versatility of your fixed Standard Horizon VHF DSC. The installation, too, couldn’t be simpler – just plug and play - and each unit comes complete with a full three-year warranty.
