As a sportboat or performance dinghy sailor you need accurate, easy to read, real-time speed, heading and VMG data just as badly as anyone on a large keelboat. Downwind you probably need this information even more than someone sailing a displacement hull. Why don’t you have the real-time data you need? At Velocitek, we’re guessing it’s because you cannot justify adding several kilograms and a couple thousand dollars to your boat. Not to mention the headache of having to bore a hole through your hull to install a speed transducer.
The SC-1 changes everything. This device gives you all the information you need to trim for optimal VMG and make sound tactical decisions. All this functionality is contained in one lightweight, bombproof, watertight box that you can install in under a minute. This massive step forward is made possible by recent improvements in civilian GPS technology. At the heart of the SC-1 is a state-of-the art UBlox Antaris LEA-4A 16 channel GPS chipset. Designed for luxury automotive navigation systems, this chipset calculates super-accurate position-velocity-time GPS solutions at an unprecedented rate of four times per second. The end result is that for only $599 and 437g (15.4oz) you can now have all the real-time information you need to sail faster and win.
As an added bonus the SC-1 keeps a rolling 40 hour log of all that precious real-time information, allowing you to download it to your windows PC through a standard USB cable. This allows you to use popular replay and track display applications like Kattack, GPS Action Replay and Google Earth to carefully review and analyze your performance in a low-stress dry land environment. You can also combine your data with other boats in your fleet to replay complete races.
Also, unlike almost any other product, the SC-1 will work better the longer you own it. This is possible because we designed the firmware that controls how the SC-1 operates so that it can be easily updated through the device’s USB port. Every three months we will release new firmware versions that you will be able to download from our website. These upgrades will allow us to optimize the device’s operating modes and user interface algorithms based on feedback and ideas from our customers. The SC-1’s updateable firmware will make it possible for you to enjoy the fruits of Velocitek’s intensive R&D program on an ongoing basis.
