Torqeedo announces the launch of its first 40HP Deep Blue electric outboard system on stand 11.705 at the Marine Equipment Trade Show (METS) in Amsterdam, 19 – 21 November 2013.
The 40HP version of the electric outboard requires just one high voltage battery. This saves money, weight and space in the boat.
Torqeedo has launched the 40HP outboard to leverage the success of its predecessor. The original Deep Blue system – which was the overall winner of the DAME Award for innovation at the Show last year – is equivalent to an 80HP petrol outboard and successfully combines a large outboard engine with an electric motor for the first time to produce an integrated propulsion system.
The Deep Blue 40 system is easily operated at the simple push of a button and offers price-performance ratio benefits, together with comfort and safety over the individually manufactured drives, which have previously dominated this segment of the market.
The Deep Blue 40 system has a battery capacity of 13 kWh. The recommended selling price for the complete system – motor and battery – is £27,298 ($43,835).
