Torqeedo, a company based in Starnberg (near Munich), has launched its new Travel Line and Cruise Line, high efficient electric outboard motors, which will revolutionise the market for boat engines. “The motor is the heart of a boat engine. Here we set new standards on several fields,” explains founder and managing director of Torqeedo, Dr. Friedrich Böbel. “We are the first to offer torque motors, the newest generation of electronically commutated electric motors, which we have enhanced for boat engines. These motors are maintenance-free and are characterised by significantly higher efficiencies and a higher power continuity.”
Torqeedo Travel – high power for smaller boats
The new Torqeedo Travel 400 and 800 are ultralightweight, foldable and yet very powerful motors – making them the ideal engine for dinghies, yawls or daysailors. The integrated, safe and maintenance-free lithium manganese battery eliminates the need for awkward old battery connections.
With the newest torque technology, an innovative electronic motor control and the optimized propeller, it has double the efficiency compared to conventional electric motors. Thus the Travel 800 even reaches the net power of a 2 HP petrol engine with a clearly higher thrust. Also the Torqeedo Travel motors can be stowed away easily by its folding mechanism in a provided waterproof backpack and be transported easily. Further advantages of the innovative electric motor are its integrated battery charge display, the continuously variable adjustable forward/reverse drive and the flow optimized, height adjustable and variable tiller.
Torqeedo Cruise - the strongest 24V motor in the market
The Torqeedo Cruise also has the newest generation of high-efficient propulsion technology from the Torqeedo Travel series. This electric outboard motor exceeds the thrust of a 6 HP petrol motor, and is at the same time an emission-free engine alternative for sailboats and motorboats with displacement of up to three tons.
With an extremely high overall efficiency and its superiority in terms of thrust, speed and range, the Torqeedo Cruise leaves conventional electric motors far behind. In addition to that, the Cruise convinces with a flow optimized shaft, a telescopic and angleadjustable tiller, an integrated battery power level meter, and a connection for separate steering and throttle control. Its small weight and gas spring tilting device provides easy handling.
