Marine engine for a race boat
Monica Lorenzo / Sole Diesel
We would like to introduce the Green Challenge Team, a sailing team whose skipper is Cristiano Verardo and they are now the owners of a new Sole Diesel marine engine MINI-29 installed by our dealer in Italy Selva.
A Class 40 is an oceanic class set between Mini Transat (6,50 mt) and IMOCA 60 (60 feet) but with a similar concept.
It is a very fast and powerful boat for offshore races built to cross the oceans with a small crew of one or two persons. The boat is 12,19 mt in length, 4,50 mt in width and a draft of 3 mt.
The team and the boat were conceived in 2014, the boat is built with a green technology in mind equipped with seven solar panels and a hydro generator to be totally energy self-sufficient.
They took part on all the offshore races of the Mediterranean, most important races.
The palmares are:
2° Rolex Middle Sea Race of 2014
1° Rigasa-Rimini 2015
1° Rolex Middle Sea Race 2015
1° La Cinquecentox2 2016
1° La Duecentox2 2017
We have chosen Sole Diesel Marine Engine MINI-29 because of it’s lightweight

The boat travels a lot around mediterranean sea to follow the offshore races schedule so it happens that most of the time we use the engine, we cover around 2000/2500 miles per year in delivery and the engine always worked very good!
The team would definitely recommend it since it is a very light and reliable marine engine.
