The exceptionally bad weather that affected Liguria in October 2018 – which caused the devastation of the tourist port of Rapallo and the sinking of hundreds of pleasure boats, both medium and large-sized – have made the issues of design and control of barriers and defense of tourist ports extremely current.
Alongside technical problems, there are also bureaucratic issues, pertaining to territorial and central politics, as well as landscape issues, which have intervened heavily in this case, due to the devastating effects that the storm occurred in October 2018 caused to "Porto Carlo" port in Rapallo, with the consequent non-marginal effects on the nautical market, which was also dragged into vast insurance and legal problems.
In the framework of the upcoming Seatec, International Exhibition of technology, subcontracting and design for boats, yachts and ships, to be held from April 3 to 5 in Carrara, Italy, together with Compotec, dedicated to composite materials - on April 3 at 12:00 P.M., in the Bernini Room of the exhibition centre, a panel of sector experts will face the various facets of the complex situation of tourist ports and the related political, administrative and market scenarios by discussing on the topic "The tourist port system: the marinas, the evolution curbed by bureaucracy". The conference is part of the prestigious Seatec & Compotec Academy, a space dedicated to in-depth technical analysis to promote the professional updating of the sector. Matteo Italo Ratti, CEO of Marina Cala de' Medici in Rosignano, south of Livorno, member of the Steering Committee of the Technological District of Marine and Port of the Tuscany Government, President of the Shipbuilding section of Confindustria of the Provinces of Massa-Carrara and Livorno, Deputy President of Nautica Italiana with delegation to legislative representation for marinas, services and charters, has devised this conference, of which he will be the moderator.
Pierluigi Aminti, engineer and professor of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of the University of Florence, an expert in hydraulic and maritime constructions and hydrology, will address the problems of the design of defense barriers and control and maintenance of tourist port dams.
Antonio Oretti, contractor manager of Marina Cala de' Medici in Rosignano, owner of the Sokrate company, operating in the field of security, will address the issue of security and the circular economy in port refitting and safety applied to the environment.
Marco Corti, General Manager of Marina di Punta Ala and Simone Tempesti, CEO of Marina di Bocca D'Arno in Pisa, will bring the case histories of the two prestigious Tuscan tourist ports.
Lastly, the Councilor for State and Tourism of the Tuscan Government, Stefano Ciuoffo, special guest of the conference, will bring the voice of the Tuscan politics, given that Tuscany counts among the first experiences of private marinas in Italy, such as Cala Galera, in Monte Argentario, and Punta Ala.
