In this week's WoW TV:
• Volvo Ocean Race Leg 4 Melbourne-Hong Kong look-back with Chris Nicholson of AkzoNobel talks of Scallywag
• Sung Hung Kai/Scallywag is first into Hong Kong winning the leg into their home port
• The talking point in the recent Rolex Sydney Hobart Race was the port-starboard incident just after the start. Josh Whittacker was onboard WOXI and he is interviewed by sailing legend Dennis Conner in his Sailing Blog and describes what happened. Dennis probes and we find out more on the controversial incident. A must-watch for all sailors..Thank you Dennis for sharing it with the "World on Water TV"
• After waiting for two months for the best weather pattern to siil around the world the huge trimaran Spindrift 2 (130 Foot) was dismasted as it went to the starting point of their attempt to win the Jules Verne Trophy. Better near their home base than at Cape Horn like some others.
• The Australian Yachting Trophy regatta was sailes in Melbourne out of the Sandringham Yacht Club and recent Rolex Sydney Hobart IRC winner Matt Allen's Ichi Ban was victorious. Here is Day 2.
• Foiling Week was in Sydney and all the Americas Cuppers and local foilers turned out to enjoy the weather.
• Rolex Sydney Hobart race yacht, Ray Roberts Hollywood Boulevard hit a "Sunfish" off Tasmania and water came in around the rudder area. Two rescue helicopters were despatched to the yacht to retrieve the six crew. We have the dramatic footage.
• At "warp-speed" VOR Yacht Turn The Tide On Plastic flew down a wave, lifted her rudders out of the water and "Chinese Gybed". Here is the sequence that is riveting and although you can't hear the action the sight of the boat rolling over and with all thw weight on the wrong side staying down is a must-see. One thing it says a lot for the boat design. All are OK although they see never-again.
If you are a sailor or not you should see this week's programme as it is a good reflection of the exciting sport of sailing.
